These days, I am most commonly known as Miss Premo, or Miss Supremo, or Miss Whatever-my-students-come-up-with.
Pre-teaching, I was Kristina Premo.
I was blessed to be raised in a Christian home and attend a dynamic, Christ-centered church. I accepted Christ as my Savior at the very early age of three. As a teen, I started to doubt whether as a three year old I could fully grasp the concept of salvation, so I got it settled at teen camp and haven’t doubted since.
I attended a good Christian school for almost all of my education, and after graduating, attended West Coast Baptist College. I wasn’t quite sure what the Lord had planned for me, but I did know that I wanted to spend my life serving Him. I switched majors about ten times before finally settling with secondary education with an emphasis in English and business. The only reason I chose that was because I was told that the two most important and useful skills one should cultivate are in computers and English. I figured if they were my focus, my options would be broad. I never actually thought I would teach high school. In fact, that was what I did NOT want to do. Three months before graduating, I had a meeting, and my youth pastor asked me what I wanted to do. I told him that I didn’t know exactly – I just wanted to be in ministry. He then asked me my major, so I told him. When he asked me if I wanted to teach, I told him “No.” God has a sense of humor. Less than a month later, I was back in his office telling him that I was interviewing for a teaching job in Las Vegas.
“I thought you didn’t want to teach.”
“I didn’t, but I think God wants me to.”
And so, a teacher I became; and I have loved every moment.
Much more has happened since then. I am now a teacher in Cleveland, Ohio, which is a story in and of itself, but must be told another time… However, I will tell you of one thing that I am sure. There is NO happier place than in the center of God’s will. When you are doing what He has led you do, you will find that not only has He brought a peace that passes understanding, but He is fulfilling the every desire of your heart!
